We spent our honeymoon at the Esplanade and have been regulars in returning there many times. The quality overall seems to be going down. The room design is fine and pillows were good. We were given a room that had no hot water… yep a cold shower. Got dressed again after getting ready to hop in the shower and called reception. No answer. Rang from my phone using their landline to “make a booking” and they picked up. Staff acted quickly to move us to another room. We packed up and went through the whole process again. Got undressed ready for a shower and guess what? Yep cold water again. Got dressed and called reception. They answered this time. Maintenance man came up quickly and advised we needed to run the cold water for 5 minutes first. Said he’d raised issues about water in those rooms before. In the morning of each day there was loud drilling in the walls next to our room. No communication or warning that this would happen. Staff were helpful and friendly but seemed like the issues are out if their hands. The General condition of the hotel seems to have dropped. Things like the walls in corridors are dirty; scrape marks and scratches everywhere. Needs a refresh.

Great location. Close to lots of eateries & shops. Beautiful scenery, old historical town with buildings to match. Really enjoyed our stay.

Nice hotel however balcony door didn’t lock & we were on the ground floor. Domestic fight happening on floor above us. Beds soooo soft and I have a really sore back. Good for 1 night only
